Report: Gazprom may change gas selling points for EU clients

MOSCOW, Nov 3 (PRIME) -- Russian gas giant Gazprom and the European Commission are discussing changing natural gas sales points under a EC antimonopoly case against the company, Gazprom Deputy CEO Alexander Medvedev said in an interview to Rossiya 24 television channel broadcast late on Wednesday.

“We have removed restrictions on exports from our contracts. None of our contracts contain the restrictions. One may even switch gas entry points in accordance with a plan that we have developed together with the European Commission on the antimonopoly investigation,” he said.

In 2012, the EC initiated an antimonopoly investigation against Gazprom and in 2015 accused it of violating the E.U. competition rules. According to the authority, Gazprom restricted free supplies to the E.U. countries by splitting gas markets, preventing diversification of supplies and setting unfair prices.

In April 2016, competition commissioner Margrethe Vestager said that the commission does not rule out an agreement with Gazprom. On October 26, Medvedev said Gazprom plans to send a final offer for an out-of-court settlement soon.
